In order to learn to read in Arabic, it is not enough only to know the letters of the Arabic language. The letters in Arabic text appear with vocalizations. There are 3 vocalizations in the Arabic language. They represent short vowels. In these lessons you will get acquainted with one of these vocalizations- "Fatkha".

This section is devoted to the topic "Mudd", I. e elongation. You have already learned to read any words and sentences with three vowels. Now it is time to add one more important component of beautiful reading-that is mudda. Mudd is a lengthening of a vowel sound into two vocalizations. There are three letters of mudd. Let's start learning the first letter of mudd-Alif.

Sukun is some kind of opposite to vowels. It denotes the absence of a vowel sound. Each letter in the state of sukun has its own characteristics, so it is very important to learn to pronounce them correctly.

Shadda (شدّة) indicates doubling.

The letter, which has shadda consists of two letters, the first of which is with sukoon and the second with vowel. Shadda facilitates the pronunciation of twin letters, consecutively situated at the same word.

Hamza has two kinds: dividing and connecting.

Dividing Hamza (arabic. همزة قطع) is written and always pronounced as in the word يَأۡكُلُونَ or قَدۡ يَئِسُواْ.

The connecting Hamza (arabic. همزة وصل) facilitates the pronunciation of the words, where the first letter has sukoon. An icon indicating the dividing Hamza looks like this: ٱ

In this section, you will study in detail the rules regarding to the connecting Hamza, and learn how to apply them in practice:

  • connecting Hamza with merged reading;
  • merged reading of two words, where the first one ends with the Madd letter and the second one begins with connecting Hamza;

In this section you will learn the types of letters ل in a definite article.

In a definite article, the letter ل has two types: lunar and solar.

Lunar letter ل (arabic.لَام قَمَرية ) is written and pronounced, and the next letter is not doubled, as in ٱلۡبُيُوتَ

Solar ل is written but not pronounced, and the next letter is doubled , as in ٱلتَّكَاثُرُ

In addition, you will learn about pronunciation and how to write the words of Allah (ٱللَّهُ ), as well as the hardness and softness of the letter ل in this word.

To denote the uncertainty of the names of nouns and adjectives in Arabic, there is such a notion as "tunwin". There are three types of tunwin: tunwin dumm, tunwin kyasr and tunwin futkh. The definite article and tunwin are incompatible in one word.

This section focuses on how to stop while reading the Quran.

Without knowledge of rules of stopping, you will not be able to read the Quran correctly. Till now, you read all the words, phrases and verses like you are going to continue reading on. It was like this in order not to complicate you in the first stages of learning. Now, when you already know all the important topics, both in theory and in practice, you are ready to study stopping rules.

In reading the Quran there are special rules, respectively, which change the endings of words when you stop on them. Stopping in the Quran can occur at the end of the verse, and in the middle. No matter where you stop, you must clearly know and apply the stopping rules .

On this section we wil talk of one more type of extension. This is thr obligatory extension(ar. مد لا ز م "mudd lyazim"). Yoi will learn: the definition of obligatory mudd and its characteristics; its longitude; *on practical examples you will learn how to correctly pronounce words in which there is an obligatory mudd.
